Veeam Backup & Replication triggers a VM snapshot creation and copies VM disk content to the new destination.Veeam Backup & Replication copies VM configuration file (.VMX) to the target host and registers the VM.Migration of a VM using the Veeam Quick Migration method includes the following steps: After, the VM is started on the target host. With ColdMigration, Veeam Backup & Replication stops the VM, then copies changes made to the VM disk after snapshot creation to the new host. After the migration is completed, the VM is resumed on the target host. With SmartSwitch, Veeam Backup & Replication suspends a VM, then moves the VM configuration file and copies changes made to the VM disk after snapshot creation to the target host. Veeam Quick Migration supports two modes of VM migration: For example, if your VMware vSphere license does not provide support for vMotion and Storage vMotion, or you need to migrate VMs from one standalone ESXi host to another. Veeam Backup & Replication uses this method when VMware vCenter methods cannot be used. Veeam Quick Migration is the Veeam Backup & Replication proprietary technology. Veeam Backup & Replication uses these methods whenever it is possible. VMotion and Storage vMotion are native migration mechanisms of VMware vCenter. When you perform Quick Migration, Veeam Backup & Replication analyzes your virtual environment, its configuration, the state of VMs and selects the most appropriate VM relocation method:

You can use Quick Migration as a self-contained capability or as a way to finalize the Instant Recovery and Instant Disk Recovery processes. Veeam Backup & Replication supports migration of VMs or their disks in any state with minimum disruption to business operations.

I know that everyone says you should back up to a server, but I've never had any issue until now.Quick Migration allows you to migrate VMs or virtual disks between ESXi hosts and datastores. My primary backup device is a Synology DS815+ and backup copies to DS416. Everything worked great until I decided to change Jobs. I've even tried to change the repository to an actual server for the Copy Job and it does the same thing.īottleneck says that it is the source, but it is only 42% busy for Processing changes. I've researched and have tried the "UseUnbuffreredAccess" reg key, but that has not made any difference. The new jobs were created in the most recent version of Veeam B&R 11.0.1.126 P20220302. Nothing has change hardware wise, the only difference is the old jobs were originally created in Veeam 9.5. Last week on my old back up copy jobs I was getting 150 MB/s throughput, now I'm only getting 15 MB/s throughput on the new jobs. I've done some rearranging of severs and decided to create new backup copy jobs. I've been using Synology NAS device for Backup Copy Jobs for a while and have had no issues.
